Hi there! If you follow me on social media, you may know that I recently graduated with my Bachelor’s of Science this past weekend (w o o h o o)! I am so glad that after 4.5 years I won’t have to attend a college class ever again. Any who, my goal for this post was to take you all along a little of my everyday life and to also use my camera more (along with writing frequent posts). Hope you enjoy!
I love watching Clean With Me videos on YouTube, so I was inspired to try it out – blog style! S, my bf likes to eat a lot of our meals on the living room couch, in front of the TV which I typically don’t mind doing although I do enjoy eating meals at the dinner table occasionally. He often spills pasta sauce (or anything colored) on the rug and we began to notice the stains build up and I decided to take on the challenge of getting the stains out… while we watched NFL Sunday Football.
Side note: At first we planned to throw the rug in the washer, but I read the care instructions and discovered that we are supposed to get it professionally cleaned. Knowing myself, I knew I would never pay $$ to get a small rug cleaned, so I was going to figure it out myself. I got this, challenge accepted!
Before Carpet Cleaning

After At-Home Rug Cleaning

What I Used to Clean

- Shout Triple Action
- Shout Gel Scrubber/Scraper
- Cup of clothes detergent mixed with water
- Mini straw cleaning brush

I sprayed the Shout on top of each stain until they were drenched. After letting the stains soak, I used the straw cleaner to lightly scrub the yearn. It’s important to be gentle with your textured rug to avoid pulling out yarn which is why I chose to go with something on the softer side.
As I went on, I dipped the straw cleaner in the clothes detergent + water mix to help get the Shout out and assist with cleaning the rug’s stains. This is also a good time to use a little bleach cleaner spray to get the yarn/stain back to white if that happens to be the color of your rug!
Well that was fun! Thanks for cleaning with me, hope you have a great week.
Happy cleaning,
Toni
