Life Update: June 2020

New apartment, state, car, and job… Here’s to new beginnings! SO much has happened over the last couple of weeks, and I’m super excited to share with you all. Keep in mind, this all happened the final week of us living in Michigan which is insane to me! Let me start by saying how thankful I am that Sean’s parents came to help us move because carrying everything up to the 3rd floor with just the two of us would’ve been nearly impossible! We’re still getting settled in, but I’m so excited to continue making the space ours. Today, I’ll be sharing what I’ve done so far in our bedroom.

Bedroom

Our new bedroom is a ton more spacious than our old room– we even have an attached full bath and walk-in closet! To decorate, I believe I spent under $30 total to style this room. So far I’ve purchased this $6 mirror from Walmart, in white. I also reupholstered my chair and painted it to match our new dresser color. I went with a light grey and love how it all turned out! The paint, fabric, and tools totaled up to around $20. Of course I reused some of our old decor to style empty corners and other elements of the room. If you read my posts in the past, you may have noticed how much I enjoy adding plants to my space because of the positive impact on my day and overall mood. I’m still standing by that belief!

I find it amazing how easy it is to make an old piece of furniture look like new. I still need ideas for canvas art above our bed. I plan to paint them myself, so if you have any ideas (simple abstract) let me know! Eventually, I will be decorating our main bathroom– so stay tuned for those updates! What’s next? We hope to find a rug, a new nightstand eventually and a few more things will be hung up on our walls.

New Car

For the first time in my life I no longer have to worry about never ending car issues!! It feels SO good making an adult purchase like this, hope it’s worth the investment. What should I name him/her??

Thanks for reading my life update! I will be back soon with more updates and adventures.

Stay healthy,

Toni

Exploring the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C.

This past month, we headed over to the National Portrait Gallery, officially checking the sixth Smithsonian Museum off my list! One of the best parts about this museum (besides the art) is that it’s completely free to enter and doesn’t require a timed reservation. In my opinion, the museum is quite large, but doable. While…

A New Chapter: Taking Bites!

I have some exciting news! As my life and hobbies evolve, I’ve decided it’s time to refresh and evolve this blog along with it. I am officially transitioning this blog from Home This Week to Taking Bites in the coming weeks. If that name sounds familiar, it’s because it’s inspired by my foodie Instagram page,…
