I decided to take the day off and spend my Tuesday at home, in pajamas! I woke up feeling a little off, and ultimately chose to stay home, get some much needed rest and take care of my body. I’m spending majority of my day in bed, watching YouTube, and drinking tons of liquids.. Other than relaxing, I will be cleaning my pumpkins to get them prepared for the fall season.

Cleaning your gourds is important if you want them to last and helps to eliminate bad spots/pores that could cause them to rot quickly. This week, I’m sharing how I clean my pumpkins to make them last the entire fall season! It’s actually really freaking easy, too!
I first want to say that I didn’t clean my gourds immediately after buying them from the store and one of mine started to go bad after a week or so and I had to throw it out. This reminded me how important it is to give your pumpkins a decent bath if you want them to last.

To clean my gourds I typically use an old sponge, spray bleach, dish soap, and water. Those 4 things make a whole lot of difference, let me tell you! First, I wash them with dish soap and water, then I give them a good spray and let them sit in the soapy water for about 10-15 minutes. Sometimes, I will even use an old toothbrush to get in all the cracks and crevices.

After they’re done soaking, go ahead and give them a good rinsing. Lastly, dry them completely with a cloth and they will thrive! Style them anywhere, but try to avoid spots with a ton of direct sunlight. We will be carving our pumpkins this weekend and styling them out on our little balcony. I can’t wait!
Some people also use matte spray paint to finish them off and preserve them for longer, but I never have and haven’t had many issues leaving that step out.
Hope you all have a great week, thanks for stopping by! Will you be carving pumpkins this year?
