I’ve never been more excited to get in the car and drive for 6 hours, but this was so worth it. I feel lucky that Sean and I are still living close enough to family that we’re able to enjoy the cottage with them for a week and take some time off of work, life, etc. It wouldn’t be a great summer if I didn’t spend any of that time in Northern Michigan, right?! This week involved lots of outdoor time, boat rides, snorkeling, and drinking craft beer. It was also a time that I was able to somewhat unplug and enjoy the beauty of nature and quiet time. In a world where everything is currently so unknown and continuously changing, it felt like a dream to be able to let go of it all and enjoy life. I’m so excited to share some of our most precious moments that I was able to capture.
Highlights of the Week
Driving over the Mackinac Island Bridge was so cool. This was also a sign that we were about 1.5-2 hours away from the cottage!
Walks to the bay! Not only are we steps from Torch Lake, but also very close Lake Michigan (about a 10-15 minute walk). The best of both worlds!
With Covid still on the rise, we only went places with outdoor seating and space. The Cellar 1914 was perfect and had tons of room. We played a ton of games and got lost in a corn maze. The view was amazing, as you can see- TONS of lake views
Bee Well Mead & Cider is hands down, one of my favorite stops up north. Luckily, they offered a common area outside where you could hangout and have a drink. There was also a ton of room between your table and others, so we felt as safe as we could be. Sean and I loaded up on mead and cider before we headed back to Wisconsin. We went fishing! I haven’t been fishing in years, so I was very excited (even though I don’t even hook my own bait)! It took some time, but I caught a few fish- they were very feisty. It was raining a little, and so perfect. One of my favorite memories we made. Watching hummingbirds is always a special moment for me. They are so unique to watch and quick! I love being able to capture photos of them too.
Lastly, stopping at the local ice cream parlor .5 a block away from the cottage was just a pleasure! I can’t tell you how many times my belly almost popped from dinner and I still went to get a single scoop cone.
The beach was truly my best friend.
What a fun week! Thanks for reading, I will catch you all next time!
I’m glad you had a chance to take a break from life and work and go on a trip. There’s nothing better than time spent outdoors. Love your photos. Thanks for sharing and have a good day 😀 Aiva
