In April, I took an extended weekend off and spent it on the sunny beaches of Saint Petersburg Beach, Florida! Here’s how it went….
Where We Stayed
We stayed at the Sirata Beach Resort in St. Pete Beach. Overall, I would give the resort 3/5 stars. Compared to surrounding prices, I would recommend giving them a go! We loved the outdoor space of the resort. It was very family-friendly. The rooms were fine and the on-site restaurants are certainly helpful, but I wouldn’t recommend eating there if you’re interested in trying something good in the area (and worth while).

What we did….
Dolphin Watching
There are plenty of dolphin excursions to choose from in St. Petersburg, but we booked through Chase’s travel portal, using points. We saw a few dolphins as we rode out to the Gulf of Mexico, but not the entire boat ride. I enjoyed being out on the water more than anything – the dolphins were a huge bonus! If you have kids, this is an easy activity to get them involved in, but we had just as much fun going as adults.

Crabby Shack, St. Pete Beach, FL
We ate dinner on the beach at Crabby Shack and watched the sunset. We also set up the phone and watched the NCAA tournament! The food was fresh and we had great service, but I wouldn’t expect anything over the top when going here. I would go back again, though!

Downtown St. Petersburg
We walked around downtown St. Petersburg, enjoying the murals, shops, and scenery. Next up, the farmer’s market!

Farmer’s Market
During our walk around the downtown area, we stumbled upon a farmer’s market. We were also starving, so decided to grab a bite to eat at one of the food trucks. The lines were long and the sun was out, but we ended up eating LaStarada Mobile Kitchen which was absolutely delicious!

Salvador Dali Museum
The Salvador Dali Museum was one of my trip highlights. I enjoyed viewing the creative work done by the great Salvador Dali. We went through the entire museum within an hour and a half, so it is very doable for those looking to do more than one stop in a day. The gift shop also sells some of his prints, so we bought a couple of prints to hang at the new place!

Corey Avenue – St. Pete Beach, Fla.
We stayed local and explored the charming Corey Avenue in St. Pete Beach, Florida. While we were there, we stumbled upon the coziest spot, Grapes Wine Cafe. This little find was the perfect place to relax and have a cold glass of wine. After, we explored the local shops along the street, and I even found a new dress that I couldn’t wait to wear!

Overall, I enjoyed our little trip in the sun! I can’t wait to plan the next one. Have you taken any fun trips this year?
