Hi friends!
If you can’t already tell from from the title, I will be relocating and moving out of Michigan. If you’ve kept up with my posts in the past, you may (or may not) know that my boyfriend accepted a full-time job toward the end of last year. We’ve been excited for months, but at one point everything felt weird because we were figuring out if his job was essential, how that’d have an impact on his rotation locations, and if his start date would be postponed because of everything currently going on. Well, he graduated a few weeks ago and his company let him know that his position was secured, they were up and running still, and very much deemed essential which was nothing short of exciting news. A little background: The start of his new job will consist of four, six month rotations, so at the end of this we will have moved four times and then he’ll be placed somewhere permanent after the two years.

We were originally scheduled to find out early April, but with that being the peak of this virus for most places, his company wasn’t able to give him a definite answer because of everything going on which was completely understandable.. and so we waited for ~3.5 more weeks and just recently we found out where we will be moving to first!

We will be moving to the Wisconsin area for his first rotation and I’m so excited for a change, new spaces, faces, and more exploring! I’ve never traveled to Wisconsin from my knowledge, but his parents have and love it there – in fact, they’ve already given us some great recommendations and are planning a trip to come and visit once everything dwindles down. I am NOT sad about leaving our college town apartment (especially because we were invaded by large carpenter ants, but that’s another story for another time).

Our plan is to find a short-term one bedroom lease somewhere downtown. I’d love a small balcony and somewhat of a view if possible since we’ll be located near tons of water. His start date is mid-June, so very soon I’ll have to sadly put in my two-week notice at my job and get to packin’! The drive will be somewhere between 5-6 hours, so that’ll be quite the adventure and we also have to figure out moving trucks, etc. since we currently stay in a fully furnished 2 BR apartment.

Update: We signed the lease for our new place! We ended up with a 2 BR 2 BA annnnd a patio! Our apartment even comes with its own laundry room (with a door) and I get my own walk-in closet. There’s lots of more space than we currently have and I’m way too excited to get this show on the road. For now, it’s time to get packing — it’s a good thing we saved as many Amazon boxes as we could, so I’ll be able to reuse those!

I do plan to change up the style of what we currently have so I’ll share my plans so far:
- Repaint our coffee table and TV stand, update knobs
- Sand down our dining room table + chairs and figure out a better stain to lay on it
- Repaint my bedroom dresser and change out the knobs
- Sand and paint our nightstands, change the pull/handle
As for new items I want to purchase:
- Circle mirror and small console table for entryway
- Big-ish full length mirror
- More frames for a gallery wall
- More kitchen organization for cabinets and fridge
- Small decor items for living room and place mats for dining table
- New area rug for living room area
- Plants, plants plants (easy maintenance)
- Knobs for the bare kitchen cabinets

If you’ve stuck around this far, kuddos to you! It’s crazy how quickly time flies and how soon we’ll be leaving Michigan and moving on but I’m up for the challenge. It stinks that we had to find out so close to his start date, but with everything out of our control, we are thankful that he still has a start date and job security. Luckily for me, I’ll be able to apply for jobs with my current company because they have locations in the Menasha area.
Time for downsizing my closet, donating unneeded items, and figuring everything out. I’m so excited to share this upcoming process with my readers and especially excited for revamping our furniture in the near future.

Stay safe & healthy! Also thanks for stopping by!
Xx,
Toni
