Ever feel like you’re in a rut? Like you haven’t been as creative or inspired as you usually are or would like to be? Same. There are some things that usually help me out or at least get me moving in the right direction. Today, I’m sharing a few things I do to get my creative juices flowing again. Stay tuned til the end for an easy, healthy, green smoothie recipe too!
Clean Your Space
This is one of the first things I like to do when setting up to be/get creative. When my space is clean, my mind feels clear and clean too! Pick up the little things you walk past everyday. Try organizing a cluttered area, and wiping down some surfaces you may have neglected for the past few days. Maybe this will help– It sure does for me! A spot in my apartment that typically gets messy throughout the week is the lower shelf on my coffee table. Organizing that always does the trick. Sometimes you don’t realize how (some) little things can can impact your overall mood.

Make a Nice Meal or Snack
Feed your mind, body, and spirit. Sometimes you may not even know that you’re deficient in some vitamins that are key to concentration, energy and overall mood. One of my favorite things to do is make smoothies. The vitamins and nutrients may actually help you kick start your creativity and get going. Hey, you can even take nice pictures of your smoothie (like I did) if that will help. I take pictures of my drinks all of the time! Make something you’re proud of and would want to share with others. This may fix a creative itch you’ve had.

Find Inspiration
Go outside, explore your area and find something that gets you excited or intrigues your interest. Hop on Pinterest and search things you like to see/do and go from there. Find a blog post to read and take some mental (or physical) notes. There must be something out there similar to what you’re looking to do. The photos on this post came from a random idea that popped in my head almost immediately after finishing another shoot. There’s nothing wrong with giving random ideas and inspiration a try. The worst thing that could happen is you not liking it, but at least you tried!
Write Things Down
If you get a big idea, write it down. Even small ideas I tend to write down because you never know what you can make out of them. You won’t have to worry about forgetting a brilliant idea you had either. This is such a simple way to get the ball rolling, even if you’re writing down simple words– something can come out of them.
Plan Times to Get Creative
This also helps me a ton! If I know I’ll be off this upcoming weekend, I’ll usually plan ahead to either write a blog post, do a photoshoot of some sort, or make something new. This gives me some time to think about exactly what I want to do when the time comes and also gets you in the habit of creative planning in general, then it becomes second nature.

Now, here’s the quick and easy green smoothie that boosts my mood and creativity! I totally threw this together one morning and thought it was deliciously filling. The oats really help the “filing” department, in my opinion. I also like adding chia seeds, flax seeds, etc. but I’m in the process of moving and don’t have all of my go-to ingredients anymore. We’re trying to stay far away from the grocery stores as much as possible (at least until we move, lol).

Thanks for stopping by!
Xx,
Toni
