My first trip to New York City was everything I hoped for and more! As a Chicagoan, I had heard all about the wonders of the Big Apple, but experiencing it for myself was a completely different story.
Filled with endless walking, breathtaking sights, and a palpable sense of history, New York City completely surpassed my expectations. I spent hours exploring the city, captivated by everything.
But the absolute best part of the trip was, the food. New York is famous for its incredible cuisine, and it did not disappoint. From classic New York-style pizza to mouthwatering bagels, I was in foodie heaven. My camera roll is now a gallery of delicious memories, and looking at those photos, I can practically taste the amazing flavors all over again.
Overall, my weekend in New York City was a lovely trip. I can’t wait to go back and experience even more of the city’s vibrant culture, rich history, and of course, its incredible food!

History
During my trip to New York City, I made it a point to visit the famous McSorely’s Ale House. As I walked into the dimly lit bar, I couldn’t help but feel the weight of the history that surrounded me. If you go, and want to learn anything about history, just look around and read the historic walls of McSorely’s. It was rumored that Abraham Lincoln and John Lennon had both been patrons of the bar back in the day. I ordered a pint of ale, taking in the old-fashioned decor and the smell of the aging wood and beer. As we drank, I couldn’t help but think about the fact that women weren’t allowed in McSorely’s until 1970. If you’re into history, I would suggest looking it up – we learned some pretty cool history of the bar and NYC. It is a must!
NYC, I will be back!
