Homemade Blackberry Jam

Hi friends!

This week, we’re making and canning homemade blackberry jam! If you haven’t already checked out my post from our trip to the u-pick farm, here it is.

Once we brought our 3.47 pounds of berries home, I immediately cleaned them.

I ended up purchasing a starter canning kit by Ball, which I’ll link here: Canning Kit

The kit was only $15 and came with everything you’d need to can the blackberries, including the mason jars and pectin. The only other thing I needed to pick up was sugar.

I followed the directions step-by-step, but it was pretty simple (minus boiling the jars and lids in a pot). I also learned that the jars take time to properly seal, so by the 8th hour of them cooling, the lids were completely sealed. That let me know they were good to store in the cabinets!

The results were delicious! I ended up making 3.5 jars of jam and they’ll be good for up to 18 months according to the kit instructions. I had so much fun making jam, I can’t wait to do it again!
