Posing With Fruit: Papaya!

Hello friends!

I hope everyone had a safe and enjoyable weekend! This weekend, I found inspiration on Pinterest (shocker) and decided it was time to get creative. Lately, I’ve been playing around with my camera, Light Room Mobile App, and food for content- I will share some of the shots later on. I was pleasantly surprised at how my photos turned out and it goes to show that you can create content with just about anything, it may just take some time (and lots of patience). This week, I decided to use papaya as my main prop/theme mostly because I knew the papaya we bought last week just had to be ripe enough by now and I wanted to use it in a smoothie! At first, this shoot felt like a complete fail because I wasn’t able to get the exact shot I wanted from my Pinterest inspo, but I was determined to keep going and knew something good would come out of it. Eventually, I decided to stray away from my inspo photo and try different poses and angles. Here’s how everything turned out:

This Week’s Photoshoot Theme: Fruit… Papaya!

First, I started in my bedroom– FAIL! I got maybe one good shot, lol. On to the next!

Next, I moved on to the living room. Tried to shoot in a corner.. FAIL! The lighting and just about everything else was off to me, I was not a happy camper at this point, but kept on trying.

Then, I turned my tripod around and tried shooting in front of our couch. This is when I finally felt a sigh of relief because I finally got some decent shots. Also, let me add that indoor photoshoots by yourself isn’t as easy as it sounds OR looks. It’s nice because I’m able to take photos from my camera app on my phone, but still is not an easy task while trying to stay in focus, pose, control lighting and take photos from your phone in 2 seconds.

Ways To Pose With Fruit

  • Posing the fruit on a tray
  • Holding a tray or bowl with fruit while smiling
  • Placing fruit in front of one eye, while holding the other half
  • Holding both halves with the insides facing the camera lens
  • Eating the fruit while smiling
  • Extra tip: Somewhat matching/coordinating with your prop helps bring it all together and create somewhat of a theme

It’s always fun trying something new and stepping out of my comfort zone. It was also fun attempting to recreate a photo I found on the internet. Now, it’s time to start preparing for my final week of work before a 7 day vacation in Northern Michigan! Not so excited for our 6 hour car ride from Wisconsin, but I am pretty excited for the views along the way. Almost time for waking up at the lake, boat rides, and lots of outdoor festivities with some of my favorite people. Thanks for stopping by!

Balcony Garden Update

In late winter, I decided to try something fun and bought a bunch of seeds (tomatoes, herbs, strawberries, and peppers). By mid-March, I was fully committed. I picked up a grow light and some seed-starting soil at Ace Hardware, ordered a heating mat and starter pots on Amazon, and watched a ton of gardening YouTube…

Daily Prompt: Write about your dream home.

I’m still deciding on the exact vibe and location of my dream home, but the vision is starting to come together! Here’s what’s currently on my “must-have” list: The Exterior I’m picturing a multi-level home with moody, dark brick, large windows, and a front porch big enough for a few chairs. Out back, the focus…

Exploring the National Portrait Gallery in Washington, D.C.

This past month, we headed over to the National Portrait Gallery, officially checking the sixth Smithsonian Museum off my list! One of the best parts about this museum (besides the art) is that it’s completely free to enter and doesn’t require a timed reservation. In my opinion, the museum is quite large, but doable. While…
